CARVED IN STONE...

Next to the church is a small courtyard.
In the courtyard stands a statue entitled "St. Brigid and the Children".
This is what I came to see, for there is a story about the making of the statue.

It seems that the artist had all but completed her work when she decided,
at the last moment, to carve a cross hanging around St. Brigid's neck.
