Brighid's Fire was created as an extension of creative expressions I've been working on since Goddess knows when. I simply saw the internet as a way for me to share the different things that touch my life. This can be anything from the lyrics of a song I find meaningful to my own poetry and artwork to rituals and incantations. I originally thought that I might start to venture in the direction I have seen so many others take - publishing documents and articles that dispell the myths and set the facts straight and provide a resource for other who are seeking information, then I had a change of mind and heart. I believe there are so many of these pages now, so many sites, that are all providing the same type of core information, each with the author's own personal strengths focused upon, that another page/site with the same focus is not necessary. I decided that sharing my own creations with the world would better serve those who cared to delve into my world. Call it selfish or egotistical, but this is what I have chosen. Ultimately, Brighid's Fire is a method of healing for me, healing through inspiration and creative expression. No doubt I find value in that and if others can find value as well, then all the better.
Brighid's Fire was originally published on AOL sometime in late 1996 or early 1997 (I really don't remember) using AOL's Personal Publisher which I found rather limiting. After being a member of AOL for nearly two years, I had finally had enough with the slow connections, overloaded servers, busy modems, et al, and so I jumped ship and joined a local ISP. Making this change meant republishing the pages, but at the time, I didn't have any other software that I could use to publish a web page. I ended up downloading Navigator Gold after a friend (hee hee hee... he's now my husband... some friend, eh?) took a look at my existing pages and suggested this as the software which would be capable of handling my needs. From there, I went to work, and what was 5 pages on AOL soon grew into over 15 pages, all much better looking than they originally were and turning out better than I had hoped for. Now Brighid's Fire contains over 50 pages, all hand coded (no more wysiwyg html editors - my husband tells me I'm a geek), all containing bits and pieces of me and my life and what's near and dear to my heart. Suffice it to say, I consider THESE pages to be the true beginnings (and continuations) of Brighid's Fire. (The old AOL pages simply don't compare.) So with that in mind, I declare Brighid's Fire first published in August, 1997 and continually revised and updated (the frames version you are now viewing was published in July, 2000).
